Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 26, 2026
SoftSnoop (“SoftSnoop,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit softsnoop.com (the “Site”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who We Are
SoftSnoop is an independent software review publication. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at contact@softsnoop.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us, information collected automatically, and information from third parties.
Information you give us
- Contact details (name, email address) when you email us, submit a contact form, request a demo, or subscribe to a newsletter.
- Account details when you register to leave a review – typically name, email, and (optionally) job title, company, and country.
- Review content, ratings, and any files or screenshots you attach.
- Tool submissions from vendors, including product details, pricing, contact person, and company information.
- Payment or billing details when you engage in a paid arrangement with us (for example, a sponsored listing). Payments are processed by third-party providers; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Any other information you choose to share in messages to us.
Information collected automatically
- Log data such as IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps.
- Cookie and similar-technology data (see Section 8).
- Approximate location derived from IP address.
- Interaction data such as clicks, scroll depth, form submissions, and search queries on the Site.
Information from third parties
- Analytics providers, advertising partners, and social platforms may share aggregated or pseudonymous data about how visitors reach and interact with the Site.
- If you sign in through a third-party service (e.g., Google), we receive the profile information you authorize that service to share.
- Affiliate networks share confirmation when a click from SoftSnoop results in a signup or purchase.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its features.
- Publish, moderate, and display user reviews and vendor profiles.
- Respond to inquiries, support requests, and vendor submissions.
- Send newsletters, product updates, and marketing communications you have opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- Verify authenticity of reviews and detect fraudulent, spammy, or inauthentic activity.
- Measure performance, understand audience trends, and improve editorial coverage.
- Process affiliate commissions and comply with tax and accounting obligations.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, and protect the rights, property, and safety of SoftSnoop, our users, and the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under one or more of the following legal bases: your consent, performance of a contract with you, compliance with a legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only in the following situations:
- Service providers. With vendors that help us run the Site (hosting, analytics, email delivery, security, customer support, payment processing). These providers are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to us.
- Affiliate and advertising partners. With partners that pay us commissions when readers sign up or purchase through our links. We share limited, mostly pseudonymous data such as click IDs and referral URLs.
- Vendors of a reviewed product. If you submit a demo request or “Get pricing” form on a tool profile, we share the details you submit with that vendor so they can respond. This is a direct sharing action initiated by you.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, subpoena, or valid legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SoftSnoop, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to the acquiring party honoring this policy.
- With your consent. For any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection.
6. Reviews and Public Content
Reviews, ratings, comments, and any information you post publicly on the Site are visible to anyone who visits the page. We display the display name you choose (which may be your first name and last initial), your rating, and any voluntary details such as job title, company size, or industry. Do not include information you consider confidential. We may quote or excerpt public reviews in marketing materials or aggregated reports.
7. Vendors and Tool Submissions
If you submit a tool listing or claim an existing profile, we collect business contact details (name, email, company, role) and product information. We use this information to verify authenticity, communicate about the listing, and publish approved content. Vendors may not use SoftSnoop to submit inauthentic reviews of their own products or of competitors.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, analyze traffic, measure affiliate performance, and personalize content. Cookie categories include:
- Strictly necessary – required for the Site to function (session management, security).
- Analytics – help us understand how visitors use the Site (for example, Google Analytics).
- Advertising and affiliate – track referrals to vendor sites and measure campaign performance.
- Preferences – remember your choices such as language or region.
You can control cookies through your browser settings and through our cookie banner where available. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Published reviews, comments, and vendor profiles are retained as part of the public record unless you request deletion (see Section 10). Log and analytics data are typically retained in aggregated or pseudonymous form for up to 26 months.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect and disclose, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one in which you reside, including countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect international transfers.
12. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at contact@softsnoop.com and we will delete it.
